School Hymn

Origins

The Alexandra High School hymn was composed in the mid-1980s by Margie Odell, a mother of four Alex students. The hymn is set to Sir Edward Elgar's "Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1", a piece originally composed for the coronation of King Edward VII in 1901.

The Hymn

Verse 1

The first verse speaks to the core values of the school — honesty, goodness, and truth. It is a request for spiritual guidance as learners navigate their journey through education and life, asking that they be led along a path of integrity and purpose.

Chorus

The chorus unites the school community in a shared declaration of pride and commitment to Alexandra High School.

Verse 2

The second verse reflects on cherishing school memories and the friendships formed within these walls. It calls on all Alexandrians to uphold integrity and carry the values of the school forward into the wider world.

Chorus

The chorus is repeated, reinforcing the bond between past, present, and future Alexandrians.
